Training for a Marathon (26.2 miles) – Eating & Running
I started running in February 2009 because I wanted to physically and mentally challenge myself — in a way that I had never pushed myself before. When I was younger, I played sports like soccer, lacrosse and field hockey — they were all team sports and required a coach to push us during practices. This time, I wanted to do something on my own where I had to not only mentally push myself but also physically push myself — I wanted to be in complete control to see what I could accomplish. So, I decided to sign up for races and became hooked that year. In October 2010, I completed my first, full marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon. This year, I will be running the same marathon to see if I could get a better time, especially because I have been “training” more (instead of winging it).

Warrior What?
This was my first “adventure” run ever and it was a huge disappointment! Like Joe Nguyensaid in his blog post about the Warrior Dash, “We went through and got an order of “4 shades darker” and a side of “sun burn”.”
Inaugural 13.3 LA Half Marathon
On January 10, 2010, I ran my third half marathon ever, LA 13.1 Half Marathon, which was the THE MOST BORING HALF MARATHON IN MY EXPERIENCE. Although it wasn’t the best run, it was definitely one of the most challenging, mental battles I had to face and that was for several reasons:
Denver Half Marathon & Nike Human Race
Looks like I fell off the face of the earth. If you guys came to this site, you probably saw my latest Twitter updates and that was it. I have been extremely busy at work and enjoying my new lifestyle here in LA. I made great friends at work and have had many unique experiences! I can’t believe that I’ve out here for almost half a year now! I’ll post on my experiences later but here’s the latest updates on my running.
Rocky Mountain Half Marathon
if you want it bad enough.
On Sunday, June 14th, 2009, I ran my first half marathon in 2:21:54. It was probably one of the best feelings ever–to do something I never thought would be possible. Even after completing the course of 13.1 miles, it all feels so surreal to me! Wow! I actually ran 13.1 miles, nonstop!! I had minor issues on the way such as:
1st Marathon Relay @ The Denver Post Colfax Marathon
Today, I experienced my first marathon relay EVER! I pulled together a team of five people, Slow Mo-Fo’s, and we all split up into five different legs (Leg 1 10k, Leg 2 5k, Leg 3 10k, Leg 4 5K, and Leg 5 12k). Cuong (my bf) ran the first leg, Thao (my cousin) ran the second leg, Binh (my bf’s friend) ran the third leg, Linda (my cousin’s friend) ran the fouth leg and I ran the last leg and that was 7.46 miles in ONE HOUR, THREE MINUTES, and FIFTY TWO SECONDS! Wah! I am so proud of myself! Most importantly, I am SOOO proud of my team! We all ran without stopping to walk and we finished the race with a time that we had expected,04:10:41. They are such reliable team members and it makes me so giddy!
