What’s tethering on the iPhone? It’s basically using your iPhone as a Wi-fi hotspot when you’re on-the-go. So if you’re in a car and need Internet connection on your laptop, you can simply turn your iPhone into a Wifi hotspot and allow your laptop to connect to it. Learn how to tether with your iPhone 4S on iOS5 by continuing ahead.
Below are the steps on how to tether with your iPhone 4S on Mobifone in Vietnam. These steps are very simple and you do not need Mobifone’s permission to set up tethering (unlike AT&T in the States where you have to pay additional for the option to tether).
- First, let’s check to see if you have all of the Cellular Data information. Go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data Network and fill in the same information as the screenshots below (do not worry about the blank fields).
- Now go back to Network > and make sure that Cellular Data is turned On and check to see if you have the option that says “Personal Hotspot” — if you don’t, go back to General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Your phone will restart and auto detect your carrier. Once that’s done, repeat the beginning steps and you should see an option that says Personal Hotspot. If you don’t for some reason, continue moving forward to the next steps and hopefully it will show up.
- On the same screen in Cellular Data Network, look for the Personal Hotspot option — click on it and turn ON your Personal Hotspot.
- In that same screen, Personal Hotspot, change your Wi-Fi password so that only you (and the ones you share the password with) can connect to the Internet from your laptop, iPad etc. via your iPhone.
- Now you’re all done! Just look for the name of your iPhone in your list of connections on your other device and get connected!
- You should now be able to see Personal Hotspot in your Settings menu.
I hope you found this post helpful! Have a wonderful day!

Thank you so much Hong for this! This worked perfectly for me with a prepaid sim!
Your site layout was very clear and instructions concise. Very much appreciated :)
By the way, I love your site, very clean and friendly.
It works for me and I am so glad that I can access the Internet now without the need of carrying the 3G USB with me. Thanks a lot, Hong Vo. you are awesome !
Hi Hong,
I just stumbled across your website as you have some very useful information here! I got help for one issue and there was solution for an issue I was complaining about just last week. So you have been very helpful. I’ve just moved from Australia 2 months ago and sites like this are a godsend.
The whole idea of your site is very clever and I must say I’m very impressed. That’s why I may need your services. I’m currently the Marketing Manager for a Vietnamese company and I’m getting their website redeveloped and I would love to see what other services you offer besides SEO.
Looking forward to hearing back from a bright mind like yourself =]
Cheers,
Peter
