Marathon Medals & Bibs - Nike Women's Marathon Tiffany's Necklace

I started running in February 2009 because I wanted to physically and mentally challenge myself — in a way that I had never pushed myself before.  When I was younger, I played sports like soccer, lacrosse and field hockey — they were all team sports and required a coach to push us during practices.  This time, I wanted to do something on my own where I had to not only mentally push myself but also physically push myself — I wanted to be in complete control to see what I could accomplish.  So, I decided to sign up for races and became hooked that year.  In October 2010, I completed my first, full marathon, the Nike Women’s Marathon.  This year, I will be running the same marathon to see if I could get a better time, especially because I have been “training” more (instead of winging it).

denver-colfax-marathon

Today, I experienced my first marathon relay EVER!  I pulled together a team of five people, Slow Mo-Fo’s, and we all split up into five different legs (Leg 1 10k, Leg 2 5k, Leg 3 10k, Leg 4 5K, and Leg 5 12k).  Cuong (my bf) ran the first leg, Thao (my cousin) ran the second leg, Binh (my bf’s friend) ran the third leg, Linda (my cousin’s friend) ran the fouth leg and I ran the last leg and that was 7.46 miles in ONE HOUR, THREE MINUTES, and FIFTY TWO SECONDS!  Wah!  I am so proud of myself!  Most importantly, I am SOOO proud of my team!  We all ran without stopping to walk and we finished the race with a time that we had expected,04:10:41.  They are such reliable team members and it makes me so giddy!
